When I started college, I managed to bypass the "freshman 15." When I came back from London, my weight was on a steady incline due to my lack of activity and fast food consumption. Then came the committed relationship extra pounds. I don't know why, but for some reason I just felt it was too hard to do anything about it. Last year I joined a gym and started to be active again and I am wearing my pants I bought in 2002. It's all very exciting. But I'm pretty sure the reason that I've been successful is because I've been running. I still have a long way to go to get my endurance up to where I want it to be, but I'm making progress. I work better when I have goals... My goal is to run the Grandma's 1/2 marathon. I don't have the time to commit to training for a full marathon, but I'm pretty sure I can handle a half. I'm going to run a 5K and 10K in the upcoming months to prepare and get in the race mode. It will be a lot of preparation, but it's something that I really want to accomplish.
On another note, I am also applying to grad school. I'm taking the GRE in a month, so I need to make sure I focus some energy on that and get all the paperwork in order to apply. The University of Minnesota has a Strategic Communication program that I'm interested in. I want to get my Master's and I know that if I wait awhile I probably will not go back and I know I need to do it before I have kids because I know that it will be even harder to go back. Ideally, I can get all of my paperwork in early and not have to think about it anymore. I can spend the next month studying and then spend two weeks getting my applications together while I wait for my scores to come back. It all sounds feasible in my head, now I just have to make it happen in real life.
