My new goal.

My latest goal to kick start my workout routine is to become foursquare mayor of my gym. I don't know if it is possible, but I'm going to give it a shot. I'm not a hugely competitive person, but I do like a friendly competition and today as I checked in at the gym, this was my latest idea. I'm mostly just getting a tad bit nervous about my 10 mile race that I signed up for that is in 3 weeks. I never really think of these as races, as just scheduled runs, so for me, it's all about finishing them and having a good time. I'm starting to get nervous that this will not be fun at all since I haven't been running consistently or building up miles. I slowly ran/walked my way to 4 miles this morning, so hopefully I'll be able to just keep moving forward.

I just need to keep reminding myself that I liked this distance when I was marathon training and that in a couple weeks, I will like it again.

Side note, its super easy to run when you're watching Saved By The Bell: Hawaiian Style.

ER and the Gutherie.

Just over two weeks ago, Adam woke up with high blood sugar. This happens from time to time and I didn't think much about it since it isn't too out of the ordinary. Normally after some insulin his blood sugar goes back down to a normal/healthy level and we continue on our way. This time, it didn't go down. We ended up heading to the ER because Adam was starting to get dehydrated. After spending a large portion of the day/evening in the ER trying to get his sugar levels down we ended up with a diagnosis of a faulty insulin pump. One of the pieces was bent, so he wasn't getting the insulin that he needed. Thankfully everything worked out and we haven't had an issues since then. It seems that Adam's usually the one taking me to the ER, but we had a role reversal and I had to take him for the first time.

The day after the ER trip, I won tickets to see MacBeth at the Gutherie. We went to the show on Friday. I was excited to go to the Gutherie, but I just wasn't really feeling it on Friday. I hadn't really been feeling the greatest all week and spending my Friday night trying to understand Shakespeare wasn't really where my heart was at. I've been to the "new" Gutherie location (what is it, 4 years old now?), but I hadn't seen any plays there yet. I liked how small the theater was and how intimate it felt. The acting was great, but I can't honestly say I would have been happy if I would have had to pay for the experience. Maybe Shakespeare is just too much culture for me or that I'm just more of a musical theater person, but I think I'll keep spending my money at the Orphieum. If MacBeth is your kind of theater, then I highly recommend, if not, skip it and spend $50 somewhere else.

Decompression.

I just sat in a conference room for way too long and feel like my head will explode. I don't even know where to begin.

I hate feeling like this.

I was hoping writing/venting will help, but this isn't either. I think the only thing that will make me feel calm and relaxed is going for a run. I would kill for an office gym right about now.

While we don't have a gym, I'm hearing rumblings of a take-out sushi place across the street, which would be amazing since my favorite sushi place just closed, again. It wasn't necessarily the best sushi, but the price and quantity were perfect.

My head's in too many places to even concentrate on anything, including this.

Ugh.

My first win.

This past weekend was rough and will get a whole post about it when I have time to digest everything that happened. But the one "exciting" thing that happened was that I won my first twitter contest! Minnesota Monthly (twitter.com/MNMOmag) was giving out free tickets to MacBeth at the Gutherie, and I was one of the lucky winners!

So next Friday, my wonderful husband and I will spend an evening at the Gutherie. I still haven't seen a play in the new location, so I'm excited for this long overdue opportunity to check it out, and of course free is the perfect price.

I'll be sure to give my review after the show :)
