Just over two weeks ago, Adam woke up with high blood sugar. This happens from time to time and I didn't think much about it since it isn't too out of the ordinary. Normally after some insulin his blood sugar goes back down to a normal/healthy level and we continue on our way. This time, it didn't go down. We ended up heading to the ER because Adam was starting to get dehydrated. After spending a large portion of the day/evening in the ER trying to get his sugar levels down we ended up with a diagnosis of a faulty insulin pump. One of the pieces was bent, so he wasn't getting the insulin that he needed. Thankfully everything worked out and we haven't had an issues since then. It seems that Adam's usually the one taking me to the ER, but we had a role reversal and I had to take him for the first time.
The day after the ER trip, I won tickets to see MacBeth at the Gutherie. We went to the show on Friday. I was excited to go to the Gutherie, but I just wasn't really feeling it on Friday. I hadn't really been feeling the greatest all week and spending my Friday night trying to understand Shakespeare wasn't really where my heart was at. I've been to the "new" Gutherie location (what is it, 4 years old now?), but I hadn't seen any plays there yet. I liked how small the theater was and how intimate it felt. The acting was great, but I can't honestly say I would have been happy if I would have had to pay for the experience. Maybe Shakespeare is just too much culture for me or that I'm just more of a musical theater person, but I think I'll keep spending my money at the Orphieum. If MacBeth is your kind of theater, then I highly recommend, if not, skip it and spend $50 somewhere else.

So glad it was just a faulty pump that time!
And you're not the first person that I've heard say that about the Guthrie...I get it.
