Final Push.

I haven't taken a week long vacation in a long time. I'll rephrase. I haven't taken a week long vacation that wasn't directly preceded or followed by a holiday since our honeymoon two years ago. I recall working late before and after to prep for being out of the office. It seems that Adam and I have been doing a lot of "long weekend" trips the past couple years. And nothing too extreme, just Chicago and Las Vegas. Perhaps we need to start going to different places instead of always going back to the same places. But the point is, we haven't been taking long trips, but we need to return to them.

As I sit here at work wondering which of my two monstrous projects I want to dive into, I realize why I don't take a lot of vacations. Or perhaps I need to re-think my strategy of taking vacations during the busy season of work.

I just have to make it through two more days of work. I can do this.

Silence.

Hey there. Yes, I've been quiet lately. Not really sure why, just sort of one of those things that happens in the ol' blog world. So, I'll just give some general updates, since that feels about right.

I'm about 3.5 months out of surgery. Still recovering but getting better. I still have a fair amount of soreness and lingering aching in my knee, but overall feeling pretty good. I'm working toward getting back to activities and sports. I've been running since August (off and on, not very consistent). But trying to build up my muscles and endurance again. This is slightly more challenging and time consuming than I anticipates.

I got promoted last week. Moved up from planner to strategist. Yeah!

I'm heading to NY next week to visit my sister. With my mom. I'm a little nervous how the week will go with my mom in NY (she doesn't travel much...), but I'm just trying to stay calm and relaxed about it. Aiming to have a fun week of mom and sister bonding.

I'm heading to Chicago (for the 3rd time since August...) to visit some friends in the beginning of November. I'll be running my first 5K since surgery. I've walked a few, but this will be the first time I actually attempt to run. The goal, just to finish.

I learned to ride a segway. This was surprisingly scary after my motorcycle crash earlier this year. I wasn't anticipating that. I was nervous for the first part of the tour fearing some sort of crash and injury to ensue. It was a 2 hour "Magical History Tour" of NE Minneapolis, so after about the first 30 minutes I finally felt comfortable. They gave me a "Segway license" at the end. Too bad I can't say the same about the motorcycle class I took earlier this year...

I'm also toying with the idea of doing National Novel Writing Month in November, but have a feeling I'll be to busy to actually do it again. Last year started off well, but I ended up working way too much to actually finish. Maybe this year will be different, maybe?
