2002.

Adam and I met approximately 9 years ago. We didn't really talk at first, but we saw each other at parties. When I came home from college for the summer and was around more often, we started actually talking to each other. His band played at my brother's house on a Friday, we went to a concert together on Monday (with friends), and had our "first date" later that week. We walked around Lake Calhoun and stayed up talking all night until my mom called around 5 AM demanding that her car and I return home. A couple days after that, I went to see Adam's band play at Sursumcorda (formerly Foxfire cafe, most recently Chicken and Waffles, now empty building). The news of our date had traveled to our friends and everyone was making the random comment about it. "Oh, I'll let you talk to Adam now." "What's with you and Adam?". Adam was going around telling people he had a girlfriend and I was playing it cool with "we're dating". I was 6 weeks away from leaving the country and wasn't planning out anything long term. After Adam's band played, we ended up at a friend's house for an after-bar party. Everyone stayed up all night and around 6AM people started trying to find places to crash. Adam and I, both unwilling to leave each other's company, ended up on a cushion on the floor. Until this picture was posted on facebook last weekend, I had no idea there was photographic evidence of that night. So, here's the picture. We had been on one date together and hadn't kissed yet. I had just turned 20 and Adam was days away from his 22nd birthday.
