Dancing like a teenager.
I started taking a tap dance class with the dance teacher that I had a kid. She first taught me at 5 and 29, she's teaching me again. The problem, she thinks I can still do everything I could do as a teenager. I'm a solid ten years out of practice. I can still do the tap steps without much issue, but the leaps and turns are a whole other issue. Not only am I older and out of shape (as compared to my teenage self), I've also had knee surgery. A double turn used to be something I could (and would) do in my kitchen without even trying. Now? Ha. I can barely do one. I still haven't built my muscle back up to what it was pre-surgery and let's face it, I was focusing on running, not turns. But this dance has become my new athletic challenge. Naturally, as I get older, I don't use all of the muscles that I used to when I danced 5 days a week, but that doesn't mean I can't use this dance as a way to really get back in shape and to rehabilitate me knee. My doctor said the best thing I can do for me knee is to keep using it. I'm sure he meant leaps and turns with that recommendation.
