From the moment that I turned my capstone paper in, I have been drawn to music again. I like a lot of music, but there are a few bands that I love. I was just checking at some upcoming shows and this could be my dream week of music...
Oct 20- Get up Kids in Mpls
Oct 21- Get up kids in Chicago
Oct 22- Get up Kids in Chicago
Oct 24- Lawrence Arms in Chicago
Yes, I would happily see 3 Get up Kids shows in a week (they also broke up a few years ago, so the fact that they are playing shows at all is awesome). They were the first band that Adam and I saw together- 7 years ago. I don't even have a job yet, and I'm already planning my vacation time!
Now that I have time on my hands, its nice to be able to work things that I like doing back into my life. Adam and I saw some friends the other week and everyone kept commenting on how they hadn't seen us in awhile. I'm the social coordinator for the household, and when I'm busy, Adam doesn't really do much. I didn't really think about how my school schedule would affect Adam the last couple years. But now, we can go to concerts again, or at least I intend to. When I first moved back to Minneapolis, our whole friend group centralized around music, but we drifted apart years ago because of our schedules. It's hard to go to a bunch of mid-week concerts when you have to work in the morning. Hopefully I can learn to appreciate the things I used to love, but haven't had time to do.
Here's to re-discovering the things I enjoy doing....
