As soon as I finished grad school (and didn't have a job) I decided I should take advantage of the fun things that happen around Minneapolis. The first thing I thought of was Apple Days in my hometown of Excelsior. I used to participate in annual parade as a kid and thought it would be fun to re-visit as an adult. I saw that it was taking place on September 12 and made a mental note to save the date for Apple Days. A few weeks after that I found out the Breath of Hope 5K was happening on September 12. I was confident that I could fit in both events without any issues and kept on planning. Then I was invited to my Uncle's birthday party for the same day. On top of all of this, I also had a dentist appointment! Thankfully, my dentist appointment was re-scheduled for different Saturday so I only had 3 events to juggle. After some consideration, I opted to skip Apple Days, if I haven't been to the parade for 20 years, I can probably wait one more year.
Of course, I woke up yesterday morning only to discover my sore throat from Friday was much worse and I felt awful. I had been planning a full day of activities for about 2 months and had to cancel them all. I barely even left my bed. Such a waste. So much for trying to save the date.
