My morning struggle.

Last night I was reading an article about the Scandinavian practice of going in a sauna and then jumping into cold water (or snow). Going from extreme hot to cold is good for your skin, rides your body of toxins, blah, blah. (For context, I was reading Whole Living) As I was reading I thought I should try it at the gym going from sauna to a cold shower. I was getting all amped up for a good 3 mile run followed by cleansing hot and cold. It sounded great... last night.

I picked out some work clothes and gym clothes. I packed my bag. I set everything out that I needed.

Then 6am rolls around and I start talking myself out of it.
"You can work out later." A quick check of my calendar for the day and I realize, I can't.
"You can work out tomorrow". No, I said I'd work out today.
"You can work out after happy hour." Really? Because that's ever happened.

On a cold winter-ish morning, it's a lot easier to stay in bed than it is to go to the gym. It just is. But if I want to get back in shape, the only way to do it is to workout. The only way to guarantee that I have the time to workout is to go in the morning. Thus, the morning workout. Thankfully my morning run paid off, I lost another 2lbs in our work weight loss challenge. Talk about instant gratification. Although I know it wasn't instant, it certainly helps with motivation and hopefully tomorrow my morning "do you really want to workout now" dialogue will only be 15 minutes instead of 30.
