So, I did it. I took the plunge and joined weight watchers this morning. I haven't read through much of the information yet, but I went to a meeting this morning. I really had no idea what to expect out of that. I think ultimately it is a place to bitch about the lack of eating one can do and commiserate with others about what each of use are going through. It was sort of guided discussion with a "leader" who brought up topics about emotional eating versus hungry eating, and what to do in each situation. I'm optimistic that I can reach my goal in about 3 months while doing so in a "healthy" manner. I keep thinking that I could probably just do it on my own, but also know that whatever I've been doing lately isn't working, so clearly I can't. I think the hardest part will be eating with Adam. Since our courtship begin, I have seen a 37% increase in my weight. I'm down to a 20% increase, but that's still 20% more than I want to be, hence the lifestyle overhaul. Adam doesn't eat vegetables and lives off diet coke. I have a feeling most of our dinners will consist of him ordering pizza and me making something for myself. Ideally I would like him to eat what I'm eating, but he's such a picky eater, and I'm picky about my meat intake, so our diets don't really mesh in any capacity. Now that I'm back in school, I'm on my own for dinner for most nights, so maybe it will work out... As I said earlier, I'm feeling optimistic and ready to change things up. Since I have already invested some money, I also have the initial motivation needed to see out the first month.
This was overheard at the coffee shop I'm at...
"Diets are hard, I would rather just work out"-- From the skinny girl grabbing for a donut.
Yeah... I'm not sure it works like that for everyone.
