They sat side-by-side, similar in every way, yet just slightly different. They were paired together on the shelf. They never asked to be paired. It just happened. They found themselves being made at the same time, and the next thing they knew, they were a set. They were constantly compared. The physical differences first, the colors, the stripes along the edge. Then the capability comparison began. Could they hold the same amount of items? Was one just slightly more functional than the other?
They knew that one would be chosen first. That’s how it always goes. Eventually they would have to go their separate ways. They just never knew when that day would be. So, while they waited for the inevitable separation, they relished everyday that they had together, just a pair of twin suitcases on a shelf.
